Can Porous Pave be installed onto a specific material?
Yes! Porous Pave is flexible in more than one way:
- Wood (The Urethane binding agent that is used penetrates the wood giving an immense grip)
- Steel
- Aluminum (The aluminum must be specially primed and then re-primed)
- Concrete
- Asphalt
- Compacted Aggregate (Crushed concrete, crushed asphalt, crushed marble are fine. Limestone products are not acceptable as they will become less porous over time)
- Enamel Tile (The tile has to be acid-etched prior to priming)
- Fiberglass (The fiberglass surface must be made coarse in finish and primed with flat primer)
Will Porous Pave crack?
NO - Because of the elastic properties of both the binder and the rubber chips, Porous Pave will not crack.
Will Porous Pave have to be resealed because of ultraviolet light breakdown?
NO - Porous Pave is bound together with a single component urethane that has similar durability as that of the rubber granule. Stripping or other painting done to the surface of Porous Pave will have to be maintained as necessary based on usage.

Will Porous Pave fade in time with exposure to the sun?
YES - Nearly every product will fade at certain speeds when exposed continually to sunlight. Porous Pave has UV inhibitors in the colorization process of the rubber chips thereby minimizing fading of the color. When first installed Porous Pave will have a "wet" look to it. This shine will fade into a "matte" finish due to exposure to the sun. Also, the binder will amber slightly when exposed to direct sunlight.
Is Porous Pave really “porous”?
YES - The product is manufactured using a nominal 1/4" - 3/8” rubber granule which creates a highly permeable material due to the “open-pore” design.
Do freeze-thaw conditions affect the integrity of Porous Pave?
NO - Because of the elastic properties of the urethane binder and the expansion/contraction abilities of the rubber chips, the pressure that is exerted by freezing water does not interfere with the structural integrity of the products.
Does Porous Pave smell?
During initial installation a slight odor is present. When installed in outdoor applications no noticeable odor is present. If installed in confined areas a slight odor will be present only for the first few days. Once installed and cured no odor is detectable.
Can Porous Pave be installed in the rain?
NO - Porous Pave is a moisture-cured product and mixing it in the rain would cause the product to stiffen and make it impossible to work with. Rain cannot occur within 6 hours of applying Porous Pave. After 6 hours rain is no longer a concern.
How long does Porous Pave take to cure?
The binder in Porous Pave is moisture cured. Under normal conditions Porous Pave will be fully cured within 24 hrs. In dry ( low humidity ) conditions additional time may be required or a light mist of water may need to be applied to accelerate curing.
